Today I want to talk about two brilliant things I found that makes writing really fun.
A lot of you must have already heard of FocusWriter. I found out about it on Pinterest today and oh, my….. That’s just amazing! It’s a distraction-free writing environment. Think about it this way: you sit down to write, open it up and you have a screen on your choice – they have themes for you to choose from, but you can use your own photos. It takes up the whole computer screen, so unless you really want to reach for the minimize button, which is hidden, you won’t be tempted to “get out of your writing space”.
I’m a total sucker for old, vintage stuff, right? Not meaning to give away how old I am, I must tell you that I learned to type using a typewriter! Now, guess what… FocusWriter has typewriter sounds!!! Isn’t it marvellous??? 🙂
If you want to find out how it works, check out this video:
Another programme I found is simple called Writer. When you open the page, it feels like you’ve gone back to the past (gosh, how many clues of my age am I going to give here today?), a time with those black screen computers and green fonts, something sort of Matrix, if you know what I mean. Super cool. You can also change the colours and other settings and the typewriter sounds are more realistic, even the backspace has a sound, which doesn’t happen on FocusWriter.
I’m so excited to start using it! I’ll start with FocusWriter and see how it goes.
Have you tried any of these? What do you think? If you haven’t and use something different, leave a comment below and let us know!
Happy writing. 🙂
